A native of Dallas, TX, Samantha Mason grew up in a musical family. She began playing the piano at age six and the trumpet at age ten. Ms. Mason was fortunate to have terrific trumpet instruction throughout middle school and high school, and was the first female ever to be selected Principle Trumpet of the Texas All-State Orchestra in 2004. She continued her studies with Tom Booth at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 2008. For the last two summers, she was awarded a Fellowship at the Chautauqua Institute and performed in both the professional and festival orchestras. In May of 2010, she will graduate with a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA, studying primarily with Tom Rolfs and Ben Wright, of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. At the end of 2009, she became a regular substitute with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Chamber Orchestra.
