Born in Xalapa, Mexico, violinist Hector Hernandez received his Bachelor of Music Degree from the Universidad Veracruzana, where he was a student of professors Ryzard Zerynger and Emmanuel Arias y Luna.
An enthusiastic chamber and orchestra musician, Hector has participated in numerous festivals in Mexico, USA, Spain and Italy, such as the Cervantino International Festival, The Norse Festival, Instrumenta Summer Festival, Festival del Solsones, and Animato Festival, between others. Also, from 2004 to 2007 he was the first violin of the Amikoj String Quartet.
Hector Hernandez has played in master classes for distinguished violin players, such as Luiz Grinhauz, Ljerko Spiller, Misha Vitenson, Marcia Littley, Raul Teo Arias, Michael Bartha, Jorge Risi, Leon Spierer, Katy Sebestien and Ervin Schifer.
From 2002 to 2007 he was a member of the Youth Orchestra of Veracruz State, holding the position of concertmaster since 2006. He has also participated with different symphonic and chamber orchestras in Mexico and Miami, as well as ensembles specialized on Baroque music. In 2006, he was selected to play with the Youth Orchestra of the Americas in its European Tour.
He has been featured as a soloist with the Universidad Veracruzana Symphony Orchestra, Universidad Veracruzana Chamber Orchestra, Youth Symphony Orchestra of Veracruz State, Florida International University Symphony Orchestra and many others chamber ensembles.
Hector has been awarded the Universidad Veracruzana Artistic scholarship, an Horonable Mention in the National Junio Musical Violin Competition, third prize in the Youth Orchestra of Veracruz State and FIU Concerto Competition.
Currently he a member of Miami Symphony Orchestra, and he is pursuing his Master Degree in Violin Performance at Florida International University, under the guide of the violinist Marcia Littley. |
