Our primary objective is to educate and promote musical learning to the Panamanian population, especially the sector of classical musicians. We wish to create an exchange and build a relationship between local musicians and the foreign music professionals.

Our task is to expand the reach of music to benefit the Panamanian population – starting with teachers, professional musicians, students and the public with a modest interest in music. For music teachers, the importance of the discipline will be emphasized, as well as the diverse teaching methods utilized in other countries of the American continent and the more advanced European countries in this matter.

For students, the techniques of study, discipline and perseverance will be reinforced. The participation will promote soloists, music chambers and orchestra.

For the public, we want to give them the opportunity to listen to classical music through recitals and concerts and their manifestations in the different and distinct musical periods in history.

For the Festival organizers, they will learn to improve the methods of distribution and exposure of the artistic events in Panama; to exchange information between international musicians and the national musicians; and make our country a center for classical music in Latin America. This will provide several Central American countries with economic difficulty the opportunity to participate in a classical music festival which they typically would not be able to attend.

We have learned that in our country the media, such as TV and radio, play a significant role in the distribution and acceptance of diverse artistic expressions. Media drives public opinion in many environments including music and art. These media channels are key players for classical music to gain traction in our country.

Currently, classical music does not reach far into our country. There are few consistent and regular classical music programs that penetrate mainstream Panama. This lack demonstrates the need and purpose for the Alfredo Saint-Malo Music Festival of Panama. Our Festival gives all Panamanians the opportunity to taste and enjoy classical music.
